Milwaukee Bucks: Sterling Brown season preview 2017-18
By Ben Sewell
Expectations for Brown this season?
In theory, Brown projects to be something of a Brogdon 2.0, as a highly skilled senior, entering the NBA after an extremely successful college career. Fans should be wary of expecting another Rookie of the Year type performance from their second round draftee, though.
While Brown certainly appears to offer Milwaukee something on both ends of the floor, Brogdon’s elite level of play is clearly the exception, rather than the norm.
Brown, however, does not need to replicate those heights for his rookie season to be considered a success. The mere fact that Brogdon made the rotation would have been considered a success as most second round draft picks often find themselves out of the league within a few seasons.
With that being said, however, Brown appears to be an extremely good fit for Milwaukee and if he can stay healthy, he will likely be given every chance to make the rotation from day one.
The mark of an excellent first season for Brown would be a minor role at first, before coming into his own later in the season, while remaining efficient throughout. Given Milwaukee’s current salary situation, they are going to have to rely on players like Brown to work out, while still on a rookie scale deal.

Brown’s ability and play style should give him every chance of succeeding in Milwaukee, how he fares in his rookie season will set the tone for that.
