What is Henson saying?

As an NBA veteran at this point, the season/offseason cycle is nothing new to Henson, but that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have a number of ways that he can improve on his game.

During the Bucks’ recent Media Day, the former UNC Tar Heel outlined exactly what his focuses had been in his work during the summer as he prepared for the new season.

"“Improving on my overall game, my jump shot, finishing, both hands around the rim, staying in shape. You know, they made our conditioning tests a little harder this year, so I was making sure I was ready for that.”"

Perhaps more than many of his teammates, having found himself out of the rotation last season, Henson had a real impetus to improve and fine-tune his game. Along those same lines, Henson also spoke about the competition he has for minutes at the center spot, and just how strong he feels the Bucks are at that position.

"“I’m excited for Thon [Maker]. Second year in the league, he’s going to play an integral role in this team, and I’m just here to help him and be ready when my number is called. That’s all you can do, be professional. Hopefully he takes that next step and becomes who we think he can be. And [Greg Monroe] is going to be Moose, man. He’s an old head now, I think year eight, so he’s going to do what he does. You can put him out there for whatever minutes and he’s going to do well.”"
