How does Monroe fit in?

Last season, Monroe found his niche as the Bucks’ Sixth Man. This year, with a full season under his belt, Monroe looks to be even more comfortable as the leader of the bench unit.

Although Monroe is not the starting center for the team, he is the most reliable. Thon Maker played less than 600 minutes last season, while the struggles of John Henson have been well documented.

With just three centers on the roster, if things go poorly to start the season, or if Thon is injured, Monroe might be asked to start for a stretch this season. As a seven-year veteran, Monroe is able to shoulder that burden if needed.

Last season not only did Monroe find his role as the team’s bench scorer, but also as the team’s enforcer. In nearly every Milwaukee scuffle, Monroe was the first one to rush to the defense of his teammates.

It may sound insignificant, but over an 82 game season those things matter. Players need to know someone has their back, and what better person for that role than a 265lb man nicknamed Moose.
