Milwaukee Bucks: Tony Snell season preview 2017-18
By Ben Sewell
What is Snell saying?
As aforementioned, Snell’s defense fits Milwaukee’s system perfectly. When asked on media day about it, he had this to say.
"“I’m a defensive-minded type of guy. I play defense to the top. I’m the type of guy who will start on the defensive end just trying to get defensive stops. Just trying to build this team — because of the amount of length we have and everybody is like really tall — we’re going to use our length to get defensive stops and that should help us out a lot.”"
For the Bucks to excel this year, the Bucks are going to have to become one of the East’s top defenses. For them to do that, Snell is going to have to play a huge part.
Likewise, his link up play with fellow Buck’s wing Middleton will be hugely important to the Bucks success this season. When asked on this, Snell said.
"“Just being able to work together. Communicating off the court, and trying to build chemistry. Knowing where both of our strengths are to rely on them for this team, and to help the team win. We’re just trying to feed off of each other.”"
In the past two seasons, Snell and Middleton have each led the Bucks in three-point shooting respectively. With the ever growing importance of three point shooting in the NBA, Snell and Middleton’s importance to the team will only grow stronger.
Lastly, as one of the biggest re-signings this offseason, Snell was asked about his new contract with Milwaukee.
"“I’m very excited to be back. Just being with this team, and the amount of talent, and the growth we could have in this team is through the roof. And it was a pretty easy decision to come back with the way we fought in the playoffs. The fight was always there, and being more mature, and playing with these guys made me happy here. So it was real easy to come back.”"
