What does Vaughn offer?

We might as well start with the difficult questions first.

Through two seasons with the Bucks, the truth is that much of what Vaughn could offer the Bucks still resides in theory more than in practice.

He was drafted as a scoring guard with a smooth jump shot, but as smooth as that shot’s release has generally looked, it hasn’t found it’s way through the rim anywhere near often enough.

Through 111 games of his career to date, Vaughn is averaging just 32.7 percent from the field and 30.3 percent from deep.

Considering the premium that’s placed on shooting from wing positions in the modern NBA, the fact that Vaughn still has a roster spot highlights the greatest pros that he has offered the Bucks up until this point. He’s still only 21 years old, and he’s relatively inexpensive on a rookie scale contract.

Time is wearing thin for both of those caveats to be applied, though, and as such for Vaughn to stick around he’s going to have to make the jump from potential to tangible contributions.
