Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 107-103 win over Detroit Pistons
Thon making his preseason debut
While the Bucks’ preseason had been underwhelming for a variety of reasons, one key aspect had been the absence of Thon Maker, who had been nursing an ankle injury that forced him to miss the team’s first three preseason games.
That changed on Friday night where Maker made his preseason debut and made a great impact on the game whenever he hit the floor. Playing 25 minutes, Maker scored eight points on 3-of-7 shooting from the field (2-of-5 from deep), hauled in eight rebounds, handed out two assists and was a team-high +28.
Despite hitting a couple of shots from long range, Maker’s solid, if not spectacular play fell in line with what we came to expect from him by the end of the season last year.
Nonetheless, his presence on the floor and his penchant for remaining active at almost all times brought a stability the Bucks sorely lacked without him at their disposal during the team’s first three preseason tilts.
That will surely have to remain a key part to any success the Bucks hope to achieve this year, and hopefully through it all, Maker continues showing the flashes many, if not all Bucks fans are hoping to see.
