Other than Giannis Antetokounmpo (for MVP candidate-sized reasons), which Bucks player are you most excited to watch this season?

Sewell: Thon Maker! He could be a contender for most improved if he can improve his rebounding ability. Thon also appears to have added a few pounds in the offseason which will only help his presence in the paint.

Bossetti: Jabari Parker. It may only be for half the season but I am excited to see if Jabari can continue to show the same promise he did pre-injury.

McGee: I’m going to go with Sterling Brown. I think he has all of the tools to play a pretty substantial role immediately, by rookie standards. If he can provide reliable defense and knock down three-pointers he could become a key cog for the Bucks.

It would be a lot of fun for the team’s second round pick to outperform expectations two years running, not to mention how valuable that would be for a team over the cap like the Bucks.

Katti: I am very excited to see how Thon Maker performs in his second NBA season. In the playoffs against Toronto, Maker showed his energy is capable of swinging games, and his motor allows him to do this every single night.

It seems like Thon has gotten a bit stronger this summer, and that should help him play more minutes as a starter. If he continues to pick and pop to the three on offense, he can take traditional centers out of the lane and open up more space for Giannis. I’m expecting some highlight plays from Maker almost every night.

Treske: Like Ben and Rohan, I’m going to go with Thon Maker as well.

Admittedly, Thon may be the only player for the Bucks that I have a hard time gauging expectations for this season. Maybe that’s because of how he went from being a “break glass in case of emergency” option for the first few months of the season to seeing how his mere presence around the rim affected how opposing players probed the paint in the team’s playoff series against the Raptors.

With that said, I can’t help but feel cautious about where he goes from here since everything still feels so fluid in his development heading into his second year. So what I’m basically trying to say is I have no idea what’s in store for Thon this season but I’m excited to see how his play (hopefully) evolves.

Wray: Echoing the above, I can’t look past Thon Maker.

Ankle Breaker. Rain Maker. Shot Eraser. I ask you, what is there NOT to be excited about?
