All in a day’s work for Giannis

Playing nearly 37 minutes, Giannis Antetokounmpo was his dominant self once again in the team’s season opener.

The 22-year-old Antetokounmpo stuffed the stat sheet by scoring 37 points (on 22 shots), hauled in 13 rebounds, dished out three assists, grabbed three steals and committed five turnovers on the night.

For as magnificent of a performance he put in, the latter stat points to how the Greek’s play was a little rough around the edges at times throughout the game, also with the foul trouble he drew early on. But as we’ve experienced time and time again, that did little to get in his way as the Celtics didn’t have a true answer to stop him at any point through the night.

As there are with any game Giannis plays, there were plenty of highlights that surfaced, the two biggest being near back-to-back alley oops from Matthew Dellavedova midway through the fourth quarter.

Even with expectations rising to another level, it’s not every day you see a player of Giannis’ magnitude keep surpassing them at every turn. Here’s to more games like this for Antetokounmpo throughout the year.
