Major key for Milwaukee – Start shooting more

The Bucks may have won on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t due to any sort of lights-out shooting performance. Milwaukee made a serviceable 33 percent from beyond the arc against Boston, but that equalled just seven made threes on 21 attempts.

Both the makes and attempts per game for the Bucks rate 20th in the NBA thus far. It’s obviously early, but the Bucks should strive to move into the top half of the Association in those figures. Even with a mostly non-shooter in Giannis taking the most shots on the team, Milwaukee needs to have a legitimate attack from distance to keep up with opposing offenses.

Malcolm Brogdon led the team in three-point makes on Wednesday, knocking down three of his five attempts. Khris Middleton also took five threes, although he was only able to connect on one of them in an overall lackluster offensive performance.

Matthew Dellavedova and Tony Snell both made threes as well, with Delly going 2-4 and Snell going 1-3. Mirza Teletovic, Thon Maker and Giannis all missed all of their attempts.

Again, it’s just about as early in the season as it can be. Still, looking at threes is enlightening because the process is more important than the results. Shooting a lot of at least semi-open threes is just something good teams do now. The Bucks should not worry so much about an off night from their shooters, as long as they are managing to get shots off at a good clip.
