Rebounding woes continue

Last season, the Milwaukee Bucks were not a good rebounding team. According to Cleaningtheglass.com, last season the Bucks ranked 29th and 22nd in defensive and offensive rebounding percentage.

So far this season, things have not improved. This year, the Bucks rank 23rd and 30th in those same categories.

The good news for the Bucks heading into Thursday’s matchup was that, last season the Boston Celtics did not rebound well either. The Celtics ranked below 20th in both categories last season, as rebounding was a core weakness of the team throughout.

Despite those weaknesses, the Celtics were easily able to handle the Bucks on the glass. The Bucks as a team were outrebounded 45-to-37. This included a 6-to-2 discrepancy on offensive rebounds.

Two offensive rebounds is a horrendous number. To put that in perspective, last season the Portland Trail Blazers averaged 14.3 offensive rebounds per game. Even the last ranked team in the NBA averaged 5.6 offensive rebounds per game. Who was that last ranked team? You guessed it, the Milwaukee Bucks.
