Concerning takeaway

Much like their opening game against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Herd were unable to take care of the ball for meaningful stretches last night, especially over the course of the second half.

On the night, the Herd committed 20 turnovers against the Stars, bringing them to 39 total turnovers through their first two games.

Perhaps it was a product of playing a little more loose with a big lead intact, but much of the Herd’s large lead unraveled due to how turnover prone they became from midway through the third quarter on.

Whether it was missed communications, less than precise passes or simply the ball bouncing off of a player’s leg and falling out of bounds, the miscues the Herd committed throughout the game pretty much ran the gamut of what you’d expect with the kind of turnover count they accrued.

Again, with it being this early in the season and being without key starters as well, it’s par for the course at this time of the year. Nonetheless, we’ll keep an eye on whether the team can curb their occasional sloppiness and ultimately become much crisper with their playmaking and so on.
