Player of the game

Much like on Monday night, there were plenty of worthy candidates for last night’s player of the game for the Herd. Xavier Munford posted another efficient night as he scored 26 points, and before his night was done early due to an undisclosed injury, James Young was catching fire from all areas of the floor.

But this honorable distinction will be going to Michael Dunigan, who came up big all throughout the game, but most notably late when the contest looked to be in jeopardy for the upstart Herd.

In 27 minutes, Dunigan scored 24 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field (12-of-15 from the free-throw line), grabbed 10 rebounds, registered two turnovers and was a game-high +24 on the night.

Inserted at the 5 in the team’s starting lineup in place of Joel Bolomboy (who was called up by the Bucks, according to the Herd), Dunigan was incredibly vital to the team’s performance, bringing some much needed balance to the thin squad, especially late in the game.

While most of his points came from the free-throw line, Dunigan flashed his mid-range game at key moments as he scored six straight points late that broke the Stars’ late push and ultimately ensured the win for the Herd.

A tried and tested G League veteran at this stage in his career, Dunigan came through in the clutch last night for the Herd to keep the team’s perfect start intact for another game.
