Who’s next?

Next up for the Herd will be the Santa Cruz Warriors, who they’ll take on at 9pm CT on Friday night in Santa Cruz (as always, you can find the game on Facebook Live).

Since relocating to the Surf City before the start of the 2012-13 season, the Warriors have been a pillar of success as they’ve reached the G League playoffs four out of five years, reached the Finals three times and were crowned champions in the 2014-15 season.

This season looks to be no different for the Sea Dubs as their roster sports plenty of players who have already had stays on the NBA level, ranging from players like Quinn Cook (who’s one of the team’s two-way players), Georges Niang, Cleanthony Early and Michael Gbinije.

Cook and Niang are already off to blazing starts in particular as the 24-year-old Cook is averaging 30 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists while the 24-year-old Niang is averaging 20.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists through the team’s first three games, respectively.

This far into the year, the Warriors stand at 1-2 after decimating the Agua Caliente Clippers in their regular season opener, but they have fallen to the South Bay Lakers in two straight tilts, including Wednesday night.

The Warriors will surely be a tough test for the Herd as they’ll have little margin for error to pull off an impressive win, especially without both of their two-way players as well as Cliff Alexander. For those reasons, it stands to be a measuring stick game this early into the season for the team.
