Major key for San Antonio – Keep pace with the Bucks’ scoring

Although the Spurs are likely to have more opportunities than they’d have in an average game thanks to matching up against the Bucks and the NBA’s second worst defense, they still need to make sure they take care of their own business on the offensive end.

Without Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs are missing their primary scoring option and left somewhat stretched in trying to make up the difference by committee.

With a record of 7-4, the Spurs have found a way to continue functioning without their star. LaMarcus Aldridge has shown significant improvement in the early running, Rudy Gay has offered some skilled, quick offense coming off the bench, and returning contributors Danny Green, Pau Gasol and Dejounte Murray are all chipping in too.

Still, Aldridge is averaging just 22.6 points per game and is the only Spur amassing over 15 points per game. Comparing that with the Bucks, Giannis (31.9 points), Khris Middleton (19.1 points) and Malcolm Brogdon (16.2 points) are all more than capable of giving the Spurs plenty of work to do in terms of catching up.

San Antonio have long been hailed for their stout defense, but without Kawhi they’re currently only ranked 13th in the NBA so far this season. The higher the score goes, the more the game will likely lean in Milwaukee’s favor.
