Fast starts

Despite the 17-7 run to end the game, the Bucks won on Monday due to the first and third quarters. Coming out of the gate hot after both the opening tip and halftime, the Bucks outscored 58-41 during those periods.

The most impressive period of the game was the third. During the third quarter the Bucks held the Grizzlies to just 12 total points. After allowing 65 points in the first half, that defensive performance turned the game around.

Heading into halftime the Bucks trailed by five, after the lock-down performance in the third they were able to jump ahead by seven. If the Bucks didn’t have such a stellar quarter they never would have been in position to go on the game-ending run.

Part of this was due to the Bucks’ starters dominance. Perhaps part of it was due to game-planning and half-time adjustments made by Jason Kidd and the coaching staff. Either way it was nice to watch the Bucks dominate the game for two quarters.
