Piston to watch – Andre Drummond

Bucks fans will undoubtedly remember the feeling of disbelief that came from the team’s recent loss to the Pistons in the Little Caesar’s Arena, as Detroit managed to secure their nine point victory largely thanks to Andre Drummond’s free throw shooting.

With a long-standing reputation as one of the league’s worst free throw shooters, Drummond’s 14-of-16 success from the stripe felt like a sucker punch of sorts, even though it was in line with some early season signs of improvement.

In the time since, much of that improvement has dissipated, though.

Even if Drummond found himself going 0-of-16 from the line on Wednesday, the attempts would still be a problem in their own right for the Bucks, though.

Drummond creates a significant matchup challenge for Milwaukee’s center duo of Thon Maker and John Henson, with neither known for their rebounding or strength. Going a step further, both Maker and Henson have regularly found themselves in foul trouble during the season to date, and that is now something that the Bucks really don’t have the luxury of.

Foul trouble for Henson and Maker would likely see a greater share of minutes at the 5 for Giannis Antetokounmpo, increasing the likelihood of the Bucks’ most important player also encountering foul difficulties.

In short, it’s very possible that two-way big man Joel Bolomboy may need to be called upon by Jason Kidd on this occasion, and if the Bucks can manage to prevent their big men from being restricted to the bench, they’ll have an excellent chance to win.
