Positive takeaway

For the majority of the night, the Herd’s size and eagerness to attack the glass was too much for the Bulls to handle. When it was all said and done, the Herd edged out the Bulls in the battle of the boards, 50-43.

While both teams actually came away with the same amount of defensive rebounds (29) for the night, it was the Herd’s rebounding activity on the offensive end that propelled them in this aspect of the game as they hauled in 21 offensive rebounds.

Vitto Brown, in particular, was a standout in this regard as he snared up the ball to keep possessions alive on that end of the floor, even with multiple bodies boxing him out to hold him off.

In total, the Wisconsin product grabbed eight offensive boards (a new franchise record, by the way) and his offensive output was largely fueled by his activity on the glass as he scored on second chance/putback opportunities a few times throughout the night.

But it was very much a team effort as the Herd had multiple contributors leap up to pull down 50/50 balls to keep possession, and they did so when it counted as well.
