Inefficient Giannis

While a stat line of 24 points, 17 rebounds, and three steals seems like a very decent night by Giannis’ standards, it was not put together in a way that would result in a win.

Giannis fell in love with the fadeaway jumper early on, and seemed to continue to use it throughout the game. The only fault with that was the shots were not going in. Antetokounmpo struggled mightily from the field, going 7-of-20.

Leading the league in PER coming into the game, Giannis started to go away from what allowed him to reach that level. He was insistent on setting the tone with his jump shot, and did not attack the rim and exploit mismatches.

When the Bucks had a chance to bring the game back within reach in the third quarter, Giannis picked up his fourth and fifth foul, which forced him to be less aggressive, and Milwaukee’s hopes of winning the game went out the window.
