Positive takeaway

Having missed the Herd’s first five games due to a suspension for violating the league’s anti-drug policy, Saturday’s win finally marked the debut of Cliff Alexander.

Much like Xavier Munford, Alexander was acquired by Wisconsin via a trade prior to the start of the season. The Herd sent two 2018 second round picks to the Long Island Nets in exchange for Alexander’s rights and Long Island’s 2018 fourth round pick.

If Saturday’s evidence is anything to go by, that will likely prove to be a more than worthwhile move too.

Alexander finished with 16 points and nine rebounds following a very productive 23 minutes of action coming off the bench.

The former Kansas Jayhawk flashed his full range of abilities, offering stout defense near the rim, knocking down mid-range jumpers with a soft touch, and throwing down ferocious dunks.

Alexander connected on two powerful alley-oop finishes, while he also threw down a colossal jam through contact, even though it was called back and he was sent to the free throw line by the officials.

Alexander also demonstrated some of his fiery temperament by picking up a technical foul for getting into a scuffle with one of the Red Claws’ players, as he left Herd fans in no doubt that there’ll never be a dull moment when he’s on the floor.
