Iso Khris

With Giannis on the bench, multiple times the Bucks went to Khris Middleton isolations. This might not be a bad strategy for the Bucks as Middleton has been very effective as an isolation player early this season.

According to NBA.com, among players averaging a minimum of 1.5 isolations per game, Middleton currently ranks 10th in effective field goal percentage. The two players directly ahead of him? LeBron James and James Harden. That’s pretty good company.

This isn’t to say the first offensive set should immediately be to throw it in to Middleton and let him go to work, but it is something that is nice to fall back on. When the shot-clock is winding down at around the 10 second mark, there are worse options than throwing it to one of the leagues most proficient isolation players and letting him make a play.

This also is an option to help with some of Milwaukee’s second unit problems. Typically, the plan has been to run Giannis as one of the lone starters in bench heavy units. Perhaps, the coaches should experiment with Middleton in these situations and see how it plays out.
