Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 111-100 loss to Boston Celtics
By Adam McGee
Remember when the Bucks used to pass?
One of the few constants during Jason Kidd’s tenure as Bucks head coach has been the emphasis placed on moving the ball.
Spanning multiple personnel changes, Milwaukee has remained one of the league’s most consistent forces when it comes to racking up assists per game. Last season, the Bucks ranked fifth in the NBA with 24.2 per game, in 2015-16 they were ninth with 23.1 per game, and in 2014-15 they were seventh at 23.6 per game.
Unfortunately, that trend is currently promising to come to a sudden end in the current season. The Bucks are 18th in the NBA with 22.3 assists per game so far this year, and they fell short in moving the ball and creating scoring opportunities for teammates once again on Monday.
The Bucks had only 17 assists to Boston’s 25, and when that’s added to colossal deficits in bench points, rebounding and three-point percentage, it becomes almost impossible to win games.
Milwaukee’s roster contains more talent than it has in any of those aforementioned seasons under Kidd, and the players need to trust in each other to score easy points once again.
