Pelican to watch – DeMarcus Cousins

DeMarcus Cousins has long been one of the NBA’s best centers, but he’s showing continued signs of growth as his career goes on and is now looking like a more well-rounded player than he has ever previously been.

Cousins is setting the tone for New Orleans across the floor with averages of 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.

Although Cousins still isn’t a reliable three-point shooter, at 34.6 percent from deep he’s capable enough that the opposing defense has to respect him.

Against the Bucks, Cousins will pose the perfect combination of attributes to trouble Jason Kidd‘s team. The 27-year-old has the kind of imposing physical presence that has already caused the Bucks trouble in matchups this season, but with it he brings a skill level that arguably can’t be matched by any other center in the league.

The Pelicans will undoubtedly cause a bigger threat if Anthony Davis also suits up, but Cousins on his own shouldn’t be underestimated either.
