Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 115-109 loss to Chicago Bulls

Whats up with Malcolm?
Malcolm Brogdon started the season like a bull out of the gate and with the stumbling start of Khris Middleton, some (this writer included) even questioned if he was the true number two option on this team. However since the acquisition of Eric Bledsoe, Brogdon has not been the same. All reports suggest he handled the demotion to the second unit especially well, however, his numbers tell a different story.
Brogdon was averaging 16.2 points and 4.9 assists while shooting 49 percent from deep before the trade. Since then, however, in very similar minutes he is averaging only 11.1 points and 2.9 assists while shooting 31 percent from deep. Brogdon does not look like himself at the moment and his performances are suffering. He’s lost his quick trigger in his shooting stroke and appears to be doubting it at times.
As a whole, it’s not totally out of character for someone’s numbers to dwindle with a change in their playing role. The steep decline Brogdon has suffered is quite alarming, though, and calls into question his long term future in Milwaukee.
With the return of Jabari Parker and the hopeful acquisition of future talent to this team, it’s possible Brogdon’s role could continue to diminish beyond this year. With a decision to be made after next season about his future in Milwaukee, one can only hope this is but a small blip in form because any playoff run Milwaukee is hoping to make will likely revolve around a firing Brogdon.
