Brown gets his chance

Having gradually seen his opportunities increase of late, Sterling Brown really got a chance to shine on Saturday in Houston, and he took full advantage of the moment.

Playing a career-high 14 minutes, Brown didn’t look remotely daunted by the prospect of matching up with Chris Paul, James Harden and the rest of the NBA’s (current) best team on their home court.

Many (this writer included) have felt that Brown has been deserving of much greater opportunities for some time now, but this performance even exceeded some of those expectations.

In recent cameos for the Bucks, Brown had shown a knack for making winning plays and this game was no different. Twice, the former SMU Mustang dived to save balls from going out of bounds, guiding the ball to a teammate and ultimately leading to a Milwaukee basket.

Brown brought good intensity on the defensive end, if anything being a little over-eager in picking up a spate of fouls in quick succession upon entering the game. From that point on, Brown showed maturity in playing with fouls, though.

Offensively, Brown scored a career-high six points, while shooting 3-of-4 from the field. Those points came via a couple of instances where he worked his way into the paint or the post and showed nice touch to finish, while the other two points came via an incredibly smooth mid-range jumper.

Based on this game, I’d expect we’ll see a lot more of Sterling Brown from now on.
