Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways in 129-110 loss to Toronto Raptors
Time to break out of that Snell shell
It may only be three games, but the New Year hasn’t treated Bucks swingman Tony Snell all that well so far.
In 23 minutes of action Friday night, Snell scored just four points on 0-of-4 shooting from the field (0-of-1 from deep), grabbed two rebounds, registered one turnover and was a -9 for the game.
While the former Lobo did pitch in some fantastic defense on Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan coming out of the gate, Snell’s contributions on the offensive end were completely nonexistent throughout the night as all of his points came from the free throw line.
As a sign of the lack of confidence Kidd had in him on the night, Snell had recorded the fewest amount of minutes for any Bucks starter heading into the fourth quarter (14:58, to be exact) before Kidd ultimately inserted him back on the floor to soak up garbage time minutes.
With another disappointing performance, the sharpshooter Snell had grown to become has stayed firmly in 2017 (for now, obviously) and it’s greatly affected the Bucks’ three-point activity in this week of games.
While we’ve seen Snell dabble with rough spells before, his recent downturn just paints a picture for how much his offensive contributions, while secondary or even tertiary, give the Bucks the spacing, balance and overall boost they need on both ends of the floor.
