Player of the game

JeQuan Lewis has had an up-and-down season as his role has fluctuated and his performance level has wavered with it, but on the whole his positive contributions to this Herd team can’t be disputed.

On Saturday, the Herd desperately needed some kind of spark to avoid a second consecutive humiliation, and Lewis provided that and more.

The former VCU Ram produced a pro career-high of 25 points to briefly bring the Herd right within toughing distance of the lead at the end of the third, and he was generally efficient in having a positive influence on the game beyond that.

Lewis shot 10-of-17 from the field, including 3-of-7 from deep, as well as dishing out seven assists to just three turnovers.

The past few days have opened up a big opportunity for a Herd player to step up and shine, particularly in the backcourt. Maybe Lewis can make the most of that chance.
