Wisconsin Herd run with Windy City Bulls, but fall 110-100
Player of the game
With all apologies to Joel Bolomboy, who posted his eighth double-double of the season on Friday night, Cliff Alexander was a major boon off the bench for the Herd as he has been all throughout the season.
In 28 minutes of action, Alexander put up 20 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field (8-of-10 from the free throw line), six rebounds, two turnovers, a steal and a block each and was a -5 on the night.
Having gotten off to a slow start in his opening few minutes, Alexander started to find his groove midway through the second quarter with a couple of easy spinning baseline scores, rolls and dunks to the rim as well as drawing fouls to earn trips to the free throw line.
After a relatively quiet third quarter, Alexander was the spark the Herd were looking for as they were trying to dig themselves out of their scoring drought in the early minutes of the fourth quarter.
While it was an average night for him in terms of his scoring efficiency, Alexander’s ability to produce points when the ball was dumped to him down low, at the free throw line or rolling to the rim was a lifeline for the Herd off the bench last night, especially on a night where they were shorthanded.
