Bench pressed

While the Bucks were able to come out on top last night, parts of their performance were not so particularly rosy. The biggest example of that was their bench production as they were outscored by the Suns 41-9 on the night.

That’s obviously been par for the course for the Bucks all throughout the year and frankly, it’s kind of remarkable how much heavy lifting the team’s starters had to do just to secure the win on the night, especially without their singular superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The best showing of anyone coming off the Bucks’ bench was arguably two-way player Marshall Plumlee as he provided some muscle and hustle in the eight minutes he earned on the night (Plumlee also was a +10 during that time). His presence also spawned a classic Jim Paschke-ism at one point during the night’s broadcast on Fox Sports Wisconsin:

Now with interim head coach Joe Prunty at the helm, it’ll be interesting to see how he adjusts the team’s rotation as he settles into the position, if he does at all.

It’s obviously hard to judge just after one game and without having the team’s best player at his disposal, but the hope is to see if Prunty may give some guys some shine who may have been buried under Kidd throughout the year and improve upon what has been the team’s biggest Achilles’ heel up until this point with what he has.

The Bucks will have a lengthy layoff before they next take on the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
