Rex Kalamian

An NBA assistant since 1995, there can be no doubting that Rex Kalamian has put in the ground work in terms of NBA coaching.

Having been a key member of Scott Brooks’ staff in Oklahoma City and a leading voice on Dwane Casey’s respected staff in Toronto ever since, you’d have to imagine that a head coaching opportunity can’t be too far away for Kalamian if he wishes to pursue it.

Considering he interviewed for the Houston Rockets’ job prior to Mike D’Antoni taking over seems to indicate that’s the case.

Kalamian is one of Casey’s most trusted lieutenants for the Raptors, and with significant responsibility in the team’s defensive approach, his stock has arguably never been higher than the present moment as Toronto ranks fourth in the NBA in defensive rating.

Considering that few teams have had greater success than Toronto has managed against Milwaukee over the past couple of years, Kalamian’s insight on what the Bucks could improve on would also be an interesting wrinkle if he was to feature in an interview process.
