Concerning takeaway

Of all elements in their disappointing performance Wednesday night (and believe me, there were many), the Herd’s three-point defense was the most maddening to watch against the Magic. For the night, the Magic shot 17-of-48 from three-point range (35 percent).

All throughout the game, the Herd were either slow or just disinterested to close out on any of the Magic’s shooters, often giving them all the time in the world to get set, load up and fire away with little resistance on their part.

With that kind of effort, it only made the Herd’s job harder to potentially claw back in the game, before any hopes of that happening were dashed well before the final buzzer sounded on Wednesday.

Given that the Magic entered the game 14th in team three-point shooting, the Herd certainly helped their case to boost their percentages on the season after last night’s game.
