Positive takeaway
With a solid shooting night from the field as well as a bumpy outing from three-point range, the saving grace of the Herd’s offensive performance was their ability to get to the free throw line.
On the game, the Herd made their way to the stripe 42 times, converting 34 of those attempts as a team, which stands as the second-highest mark for free throws made by the Herd in a single game this season.
Not one, not two, but three Herd players (JeQuan Lewis, James Blackmon Jr., and Michael Dunigan) were the standouts in this regard as they each made double digit trips to the line and hit their respective foul shots at an effective clip too.
Whether that was the product of their attacking nature, an undisciplined defensive performance from the Nets, the benefit of a friendly whistle from the night’s officials or all of the above, the Herd’s busy night at the free throw line helped them tread water all throughout the game.
