John Collins – Atlanta Hawks (PF/C, 19th Overall)

The Atlanta Hawks took John Collins just two picks after the Bucks, and the early results have made them look smart for doing so.

The former Wake Forest Demon Deacon has played in 51 games, averaging 10.3 points and 7.0 rebounds with a true shooting percentage of 62.5 percent. At -4.2 points per 100 possessions, his net rating is not great, but this is more a product of the Hawks being one of the league’s worst teams.

The most noticeable trait that stands out about Collins is his athleticism, as he has produced several highlight-reel dunks early in his career.

Although the Bucks may have been a little apprehensive to add another slim-framed big to their roster — an argument that would be difficult to make considering they drafted Wilson — there’s no doubt that Collins could have taken some of the backup center minutes and provided a different look to any player currently on the roster.

This pick would have given the Bucks a promising big for the future and also potentially prevented them from trading a future asset for Tyler Zeller.
