Major key for Atlanta – Knock down the long ball

The Atlanta Hawks may not have a whole lot going for them this season, but they do have the three-point shot.

The Hawks rank in the NBA’s top-10 in both three-point attempts per game and three-point percentage. Only two other teams can claim to be among the league’s top-10 in both volume and accuracy from deep, and that’s the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Even with the departure of two of their elite marksmen (Marco Belinelli to the Philadelphia 76ers and Luke Babbitt to the Miami Heat) over the past week, the Hawks still possess 11 players on their roster who are averaging 35 percent or better for the season overall.

That attack is varied, including big men like Dewayne Dedmon (38.9 percent) and Mike Muscala (45.1 percent), meaning Milwaukee will have to be incredibly diligent to ensure Atlanta’s long range attack doesn’t get the better of them.
