John Henson

Six months ago, John Henson was the punchline of many Bucks fans’ jokes and the constant source of trade rumours as the third string center on the team. Fast forward to the present, and with Greg Monroe traded away and Thon Maker’s sophomore slump, Henson has seen his role rise to starting center and is in the midst of a potential career year.

While it’s true, Henson statistically has had better seasons than his current one, his importance to the roster has never been greater. Against the Brooklyn Nets earlier this month, Henson finished with 19 points and 18 rebounds in a 15-point win away from home. Unfortunately since that game, Henson has missed four of the last five games due to an injury that has officially been diagnosed as “right hamstring soreness”.

Looking back through Henson’s past injuries will highlight several lower limb issues on his left leg. Nothing however has ever been reported on his right leg, although he was seen to be visibly limping after an incident late during that same February 4 win against the Nets.

Hamstring soreness is particularly vague as a diagnosis and could be anything from a niggle, to a chronic inflammatory issue.

At this stage, nothing has been reported on whether Henson will return for the first game post All-Star break. Here’s hoping that this is nothing more than a niggle which the training staff wanted to sort with an extended break over the All-Star weekend.
