Jennings watch
After injecting some new life within his new squad as well as among nostalgic Bucks fans with his debut earlier in the week, Brandon Jennings played the role of closer for the Herd late in the fourth quarter and in the overtime period.
However, we had to wait to see Jennings play a major factor in the Herd’s bounce back victory as his night got off to rough note, considering he racked up a number of turnovers in quick succession in the night’s opening minutes and the first quarter as a whole.
As forgetful of a first half he had, Jennings was quick to put that out of everyone’s mind by hitting a pull-up three in transition to start his second half play. Although that didn’t exactly jumpstart his success from beyond the three-point line, Jennings relied on forcing the issue and attacking the Nets from inside the paint by driving his way to the basket to create an offensive impact.
The 28-year-old managed to do exactly that as he was not only sending home nifty finishes at the hoop, but frequently got the benefit of the doubt from officials, considering he made 18 trips to the line on the night and converted 15 of his attempts.
When it was all said and done, Jennings posted 29 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the field (2-of-6 from long range), eight rebounds, seven turnovers, four assists, one steal and held an even plus-minus in his 39 minutes of action.
To play the part of hero in team’s first-ever overtime game as well as in his first win since joining the Herd just over a week-and-a-half ago, no one, not even Alec Baldwin, will be telling Jennings to put that coffee down after his performance Friday night.
