Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 110-87 loss to Detroit Pistons
Counter offensive
As much as the Bucks enjoyed a very solid first quarter offensively, it turned out to be the height of their offensive production as the well dried up from that point until the final buzzer.
The Bucks trying to generate and convert scoring opportunities from the field and beyond the arc was the equivalent of pulling teeth as they shot 15-of-52 from the field (28.8 percent) and 4-of-18 from three (22.2 percent) from the second quarter onwards.
With that in mind, the only thing the Bucks had going for them for the majority of the game was making trips to the free throw line, converting 21 of 26 attempts from the stripe during that aforementioned timeframe. Yes, they recorded more made free throws than made field goals for the game’s final 36 minutes.
After the game, Bucks big man John Henson gave his perspective on the team’s cold shooting as Velazquez tweeted out:
As the old adage goes, when it rains, it pours and that certainly applied in practically every facet of the Bucks’ performance Wednesday night.
