Concerning takeaway

Unfortunately, it’s hard determining where to start with what went wrong for the Herd on Saturday night versus the Raptors 905.

Despite racing out of the gates ahead of the 905, the Herd’s productivity and offensive efficiency faded fast and lingered on throughout the majority of the game from there on out. The Herd’s 83 points ranks as their third lowest scoring total this season while their 39.2 percent field goal percentage is the fifth lowest mark of theirs for a single game this year.

They also shot themselves in the foot due to their sloppy play taking care of the ball as they registered 24 turnovers for the game, which is tied for the second highest total they’ve recorded for a single game this season.

The Herd’s sore spot defensively came in defending the three-point line, which didn’t come back to haunt them until the fourth quarter when the 905 poured it on to fully separate themselves from the Herd to seal the deal (the 905 finished 15-for-35, 43 percent, from beyond the arc).

As you can tell, it truly was a perfect storm for the Herd last night with very little going their way, most of which was self-inflicted.
