Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 118-110 win over Philadelphia 76ers
Turning defense into offense
While we certainly didn’t see all that much of it throughout the first half, the Bucks’ defensive clampdown on the 76ers was incredibly evident, considering how the game had swung in their favor from midway in the third quarter onwards.
With the tempered down, but still aggressive defense they still display under Joe Prunty, which was executed incredibly well by the team for most of the second half, the Sixers finished with 26 turnovers for the night, ranking as a season high for the club this year.
Due to their terrific defensive effort, the Bucks fueled their own offense with the number of turnovers they forced directly or indirectly by scoring 36 points off of turnovers, standing as roughly a third of their 118 points on the night.
Considering they were starting most of their defensive damage while the 76ers were in the bonus at the beginning of the third quarter, the Bucks were certainly playing with fire had they crossed the line that would have led to Philadelphia making a number of trips to the line to increase their scoring margin.
Alas, that didn’t turn out to be the case, to the relief of the Bucks and all of their fans riding the highs and lows of the game all throughout the night.
