Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 110-99 loss to Houston Rockets
Sterling sharp
Since the Bucks resumed their season following the All-Star break nearly two weeks ago, Sterling Brown has been struggling to live up to the same niche he carved out when breaking through in the team’s rotation at the turn of the calendar year.
But that hopefully has run its course as Brown delivered a high mark in his fledgling NBA career against the Rockets on Wednesday night by posting a career-high 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field (3-of-6 from deep), five rebounds and was a rare Buck who held a positive plus-minus (+2), the other being Jason Terry.
A big part of what made Brown’s night an impactful one was how he fared behind the three-point line, which came with a great degree of difficulty on one corner three in particular. When Brown wasn’t knocking down any one of his three made treys, he was successful in putting the ball down on the floor after getting run off the line and putting home a smooth finish at the rim.
Putting that all together with his usual hustle, particularly for long rebounds, and pest-like capabilities defensively, Brown was unquestionably the best Buck off the bench out of Parker and Terry for the night.
Whether Brown’s performance last night leads him to turning the page from here on out remains to be seen, but it was refreshing to see the rookie break through his slump all the same for one game.
