Major key for Los Angeles – Own the boards

The differences in style between the Bucks and Lakers are further accentuated when it comes to the two teams’ work on the boards.

While Milwaukee can often present with a somewhat laissez-faire approach to rebounding, the Lakers rank second in the NBA on the boards, averaging 46.3 per game.

Frontcourt players like Julius Randle and Brook Lopez can certainly drive that effort with their own strengths on the glass, but the Lakers’ secret in terms of rebounding has been a much more team-centric approach throughout the season to date.

Rookies Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball are both exceptional rebounders for their respective roles, while Brandon Ingram and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope have also both been important in helping the team rebounding effort.

It’s not new for the Bucks to be outrebounded at the center spot, but if they want to stay in touch with the Lakers in this one, they’ll need to up their awareness and effort levels on the glass across all five positions.
