Captain Hook

After struggling for some time now, big man John Henson gave an early season-like performance in the Bucks’ victory over the Celtics Tuesday night.

Playing close to 28-and-a-half minutes, Henson put up 11 points on a perfect 5-of-5 from the field (1-of-4 from the foul line), four rebounds, three blocks, two turnovers, an assist as well as a steal and was a +7 for the game.

As you can see, Henson was incredibly effective in taking the scoring opportunities that came his way, often by rolling with purpose to the cup and putting home finishes with his trademark lefty jump hook.

Henson backed that up on the defensive end by coming up with a few rejections protecting the rim and managed to hold his own for moments when going against the Celtics’ strong, sturdy big men like Aron Baynes and Greg Monroe in the post.

Often the case with Henson, it’s tough to determine whether this is a sign of things to come or a self-contained performance. Either way, it was good to see the 27-year-old provide some stability at the 5-spot for the Bucks on the night.
