Major key for Milwaukee – Lay down a marker

With a Washington Wizards win on Tuesday night, the chances of a Bucks/76ers first round playoff series became increasingly unlikely, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely out of play.

A Milwaukee win and a surprise Cleveland loss to the Knicks would keep the two teams locked in their respective positions, as would a Philadelphia win and losses for both Miami and Washington,

With that considered, there’s still an opportunity that Wednesday’s game could resemble something of a psychological advantage for the winner, as a chance to get in the first blow.

From a Bucks’ perspective, the opportunity to put a stop to the 76ers’ winning streak, halting some of their momentum going into the playoffs would be a major positive, and one that would only add to any good feeling left over from the last contest between the two teams.

With the season series poised at 2-1 in Milwaukee’s favor heading into Wednesday’s clash, the Sixers will carry the baggage of knowing they blew a 19-point lead when these two teams last met. That’s the kind of thing that could be an entirely inconsequential regular season footnote, unless the Bucks can put in a similarly notable performance once again.

Regardless of whether it’s Philadelphia or someone else in round one, the Bucks control their own destiny and it would do them no harm to go out and finish strong.
