9. Giannis’ second All-Star selection

For the second year running, Giannis Antetokounmpo was selected as a starting Eastern Conference All Star. The Greek Freak shot out of the blocks this season with some scintillating play which saw some early buzz around a potential MVP candidacy. As a result, merely making the All Star game was all but a formality for Milwaukee’s star forward.

However no one expected just how popular he was to be during the voting period. When the first returns of voting results were released to the public, Antetokounmpo was leading all vote getters in the entire league, ahead of eventual All-Star captains Stephen Curry and LeBron James. Eventually, James took the lead in the Eastern Conference and finished a mere 100,000 votes ahead of Antetokounmpo to claim captaincy in the inaugural NBA All-Star draft process.

This was a monumental feat for anyone making only their second All-Star appearance, let alone someone playing in a small market like Milwaukee. Antetokounmpo had truly arrived in the mainstream NBA media as one of the premier players in the entire league.

Only five Bucks have played in more than two All-Star games in franchise history. Expect Antetokounmpo to become the sixth next season in what is sure to become a yearly ritual for Milwaukee’€™s franchise player.
