Major key for Milwaukee – Enjoy the occasion

There’s so much extra that goes into a Game 7 as opposed to any other regular game. The sense of occasion. The stakes. The pressure.

On Saturday night, it’s crucial the Bucks don’t let any of those extraneous factors affect their focus or their performance. Great teams are made out of thriving in moments like these, and that can often derive from a simple ability to see those games for what they are.

NBA players dream of competing in Game 7 of a playoff series, but when the moment comes and the game tips off, the rules and the goals are just the same as they were for all of the games that went before.

The score may be tied at 3-3, but the Bucks have been the better team in this series and the numbers back that up.

Milwaukee’s Game 3 win was the most dominant performance of the series. Even in losses, the Bucks have generally been close to Boston, with two of those games going right down to the wire. All of that combines to mean the Bucks have been 4.0 points better than the Celtics per 100 possessions for the series overall.

Sure, there hasn’t been a road win in the series yet, the Bucks haven’t won a series in 17 years, and have never won a road Game 7 in franchise history, but when the ball gets thrown up that all becomes noise.

Just like the raucous atmosphere that will likely greet the Bucks in TD Garden. None of it should faze them, because they’re good enough.

If they enjoy the game, take it in, and play up to their overall standard in the series so far, Milwaukee will have every chance of being on the next flight to Philadelphia for a round two clash with the 76ers.
