Milwaukee Bucks 2017-18 Season Review: D.J. Wilson
Summer focus and final grade
While all Bucks fans await the results of the team’s ongoing search to find their new head coach, the same rings true for the players themselves, including Wilson.
As the Bucks look to retool and establish some semblance of consistency with whoever they tab to help lead them down a path towards contending, Wilson will be looking to get his professional career off the ground floor in his second season.
That stands as a big if at this point, even though he could have the opportunity to prove his worth on the NBA level, considering the impending restricted free agency of Jabari Parker stands as a big question mark at this time.
Playing opportunities aside, though, the biggest question for Wilson will be whether he can take the experiences he learned throughout his rookie season and turn them into something productive for his sophomore campaign.
Each and every player possesses different learning curves and acclimating to the NBA is a challenge for even the more accomplished prospects than Wilson. And as stated before, Wilson’s never been one to contribute instantly along his other stops in his basketball career.
In the end, though, if Wilson can become at least something in his second year, a lot of praise will be chalked to whoever is put in charge of the team on the bench and in huddles. But it’s on Wilson to process the valuable tips and lessons he’s learned over his first year and put in the work to move beyond what was essentially a redshirt season this year in the right way.
