Weaknesses

For all the potential brimming through him on the defensive end, Brown’s array of offensive skills are largely a work in progress as he jumps to the next level.

Granted, that point was encapsulated by the variety of struggles he faced offensively throughout his sophomore year, with the most notable being his perimeter shooting. Brown’s three-point percentage tumbled from 34.7 percent during his freshman season to 26.7 percent in his sophomore campaign on close to the same volume of attempts.

While his proficiency in that area is one point of concern, Brown’s scoring potential and overall offensive game lacks a bit of dynamism within it. Whether it’s from beyond the arc or from mid-range, Brown struggles to create quality, effective looks off the dribble from those levels of the floor.

For as much as he has the traits of being a strong finisher at the rim, Brown only converted 47 of his 81 attempts at the basket (58 percent) this season with the Hurricanes, per Will Schreefer’s shot chart tool over at The Stepien.

Again, it’s tough to determine how much his injury played a part in his finishing prowess this season, but Brown is due to refine his capabilities when driving to the hoop.
