NBA Draft 2018 Prospect Watch: Bruce Brown Jr.
Fit with the Bucks
Seeing that he’s regarded as a late first/early second round pick at best, it feels safe to say that Brown will be available by the time the Bucks are on the board at 17.
Anything can happen, of course, but as it relates to whether the Bucks will consider Brown at that spot, the Miami product doesn’t possess the upside or proven two-way translation to really vault him into that conversation as it stands.
With that in mind, the nonexistent avenues of selecting Brown deeper into the draft is really the crux of the issue as the Bucks don’t have another pick in this year’s draft, which is always subject to change once draft night finally rolls around.
That’s no knock on Brown by any means as he carries a number of qualities, both on and off the court, that would be welcome to a Bucks team that is looking to connect the tiers of their roster and establish a development pipeline under new head coach Mike Budenholzer.
And like with any 3-and-D prospect that needs to make strides in the former, the expectation that the majority of Budenholzer’s staff in Atlanta are coming along with him to Milwaukee could do wonders for Brown when it comes to unleashing his range shooting capabilities, considering their rich history in that department.

But for now, it’s hard to imagine that coming to fruition due to the limited draft assets that are at the Bucks’ disposal in this year’s draft. If that should change with the Bucks acquiring a pick later into the night, then Brown certainly warrants a deeper consideration, faults and all.
