Strengths

First and foremost, Walker’s athleticism and overall physical makeup permeates every facet of his game. That point was brought home at this year’s NBA Draft Combine as Walker tested incredibly well across the board and possesses the ideal size (6’4.5″) and length (6’10”) for the combo guard role he projects to play on the NBA level.

Those attributes are also key to the defensive versatility the 19-year-old moreso projects at this stage and will hopefully harness over time.

As far as his skills on the court go, Walker is very capable of creating his own shot, whether that’s darting by defenders as he slashes his way to the rim or pulling up from mid-range or even beyond the arc through a variety of moves.

In addition to that, while Walker only managed to knock down 56 of his 162 attempts from downtown (34.6 percent), many pundits note the former Hurricane’s shooting mechanics look to be on point, especially in catch-and-shoot situations.

With that said, Walker’s craft and skill traits didn’t consistently translate into the production of a go-to scorer, despite the fact he ended up as the Hurricanes’ leading scorer for the year at 11. 5 points per game.
