Strengths

Standing at 6’10”, while also boasting a solid handle and good mobility, Kurucs has much of the offensive attributes and versatility that NBA teams now desire from both forward positions.

Kurucs doesn’t have the bulk to battle with bigger, stronger frontcourt players, but has the right mix of size and skill to make him an intriguing option as a small-ball power forward.

The Latvian is a good athlete, who shows impressive quickness in the open court. Kurucs has a tight handle that makes him a natural driver, and a mix of soft touch and bounce that provides him with multiple ways to finish at the rim.

Kurucs’ comfort with the ball in his hands also opens up opportunities for him as a playmaker, where he demonstrates above-average passing abilities and a willingness to pick out teammates. That’s not to say any team would be handing their offense over to him as a point forward, but he’s capable of creating and mixing up his game in the flow, which provides some extra options to an offense when he’s on the floor.

Defensively, Kurucs can show a lot of energy and is generally always looking to force turnovers or come away with a big block. There are downsides to that, but with his combination of size and mobility, at a minimum he’s a natural fit for switching on the defensive end of the floor.
