Strengths

As has often been noted throughout his development both in high school and at Villanova, Brunson possesses floor general-like qualities at the point guard position.

That obviously speaks to his command over an offense, his proclivity to dictate the pace of play to how he sees fit and making sound decisions on the regular, whether that’s creating scoring opportunities for himself or for his teammates.

As it relates to the latter, Brunson improved on his assist total year over year and collected a remarkable 2.59 assist-to-turnover ratio during his junior season this year.

While he may not be looked at or tasked with being a go-to scorer on the NBA level, Brunson is a very efficient shooter across all three levels of the floor, considering he tallied shooting splits of .510/.393/.820 over his three seasons with Villanova.

Lastly, for some questions over his athletic deficiencies and average NBA size, Brunson actually stands as an expertly crafted finisher at the basket, which will certainly be put to the test upon making the jump.

According to Will Schreefer’s shot chart tool over at The Stepien, Brunson put home 83 of his 113 attempts at the rim this year (70.9 percent) ranking him in the 95th percentile among players across the country.
